If you’re looking for a delightful place to visit in New Mexico and love the water, look no further than Elephant Butte Lake State Park. This park is located in Elephant Butte, New Mexico. This park can accommodate watercraft of many styles and sizes: kayaks, jet skis, pontoons, sailboats, ski boats, cruisers, and houseboats. The park encouraged you to boat safe and smart and always wear you life jacket. It also features sandy beaches, restrooms, picnic areas, playgrounds, and developed sites with electric and water hook-ups for RV’s.

Elephant Butte Lake State Park is open Thursday-Sunday, 6am-8pm. The two areas open for day use access is Main Area and Rock Canyon.

RV Campsite Features

This park features 173 developed campsites, as well as 8 full hookup sites. Book well in advance so that you can get the space you want. You’ll also appreciate the RV dump station.

Hiking

Who doesn’t love a good hike? You don’t go to Elephant Butte to hike, but for those who want to take a break from the water you will appreciate having 15+ miles of trails at their fingertips. For those who enjoy mountain biking you’ll be able to bring your bike along. Accessible trails are great for families and those with disabilities.
